The Kikoe Ōkimi Oarā-ori Ceremony Event took place at Seifa Utaki in Nanjo City on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This ceremonial tradition honors the historic welcoming and inducting of the new high priestess of the Ryukyu Kingdom and celebrates a long history of faith and connection to nature at one of Okinawa’s most spiritual sites.

A group of around 80 performers dressed in costumes took part in the ceremony, walking in solemn procession toward the sacred site as the sounds of drums and female chant singing echoed through the night. The soft lighting and rhythmic movement of the participants created a deeply peaceful atmosphere.

As the procession made its way to the Seifa Utaki Main Plaza area, visitors gathered around quietly to witness the ceremony. This event offered a rare opportunity to observe a living connection to Okinawa’s history and spiritual traditions preserved and passed down through generations.
